Do the rules
even apply to you?

Most operators don't find out they're FMCSA-regulated until it costs them. Answer a few questions about your operation — we'll tell you if the rules apply, and if they do, exactly where a DOT audit would find gaps.

No call required. It's anonymous until you choose to see your full breakdown.

Step 1 of 2 · Are you regulated?
01
Vehicle size

Do you operate any vehicle — or a truck-and-trailer combination — with a gross weight or rating of 10,001 lbs or more?

This catches a lot of people: a ¾- or 1-ton pickup pulling a loaded equipment, dump, or gooseneck trailer routinely crosses this line.

02
Where you operate

Do your vehicles cross state lines — or haul goods, equipment, or materials that begin or end their trip in another state?

Even hauling for a job that started with out-of-state materials can count as interstate commerce.

03
Passengers

Do you transport 9 or more people (including the driver) for compensation — or 16 or more in any case?

Applies to shuttles, crew transport, and similar operations.

04
Hazardous materials

Do you haul any hazardous materials in a quantity that requires placards?

05
Fleet size

How many power units (trucks or vehicles) do you run?

06
Your drivers

Do any of your drivers hold — or need — a commercial driver's license (CDL)?
